Members of the Academic Advisory Board (Austria) are recognized experts and professors of the most renowned universities of the country in their field beyond the national borders of Austria. They are part of an exclusive forum of Tax & Legal Excellence and provide impulses for a comprehensive exchange of views. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Eveline Artmann

Eveline Artmann is head of the Institute for Corporate Law at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz since October 2015. Her research focuses on company law and competition law as well as corporate law including accounting. She is (co-)editor and author of various commentaries on stock corporation law and the Austrian Commercial Code as well as (co-)editor of the professional journal ZIIR (Zeitschrift für Informationsrecht). Eveline Artmann is a member of the board of the Austrian Association of Corporate Law (GVÖ).


Univ.-Prof. Dr. Thomas Bieber

Thomas Bieber is a university professor of tax law and, since February 2022, head of the Institute for Financial Law, Tax Law and Tax Policy at Johannes Kepler University Linz. He holds a leading position in the Research Institute for Customs and Foreign Trade Law (ZAW Linz) founded there and focuses on issues of customs and turnover tax law as well as special excise law.


Uni.-Prof. Dr. Tina Ehrke-Rabel

Tina Ehrke-Rabel is head of the Institute of Finance Law at the Faculty of Law of the Karl-Franzens-University Graz since March 2010. Her research focuses on the challenges of the digitalisation and globalisation of tax law, constitutional questions of tax law, tax proceedings and Austrian and European VAT law. Tina Ehrke-Rabel is a member of the scientific advisory board of the DStJG and the advisory board of the “Berliner Steuergespräche e.V.” as well as member of the VAT Expert Group of the European Commission and Austrian member of the Academic Board of the European Association of Tax Law Professors (EATLP)..

Univ.-Prof. MMag. Gabriel Felbermayr, PhD

Gabriel Felbermayr has been Director of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) in Vienna and University Professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) since 1 October 2021. His research and consulting activities focus on issues of international trade theory and policy, labour market research, European economic integration and current topics of economic policy. Among other things, he is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Chairman of the Statistics Council of Statistics Austria and co-editor of the “European Economic Review”. He has published a large number of articles in international scientific journals, policy briefs and newspapers. His research has been awarded various prizes.


Univ.-Prof. DDr. Georg Kofler, LL.M. (NYU)

Georg Kofler has been teaching as Professor of International Tax Law at the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law at WU since 1 October 2020. From 2009 to September 2020, he was a professor at the Institute for Financial Law, Tax Law and Tax Policy at Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria. Previously, he worked as an associate in the Department of International Tax Law at the Austrian Ministry of Finance and as an Acting Assistant Professor at the New York University School of Law. He regularly publishes on issues of corporate taxation as well as international and European tax law and is a member of numerous national and international committees.


Univ.-Prof. DDr. Gunter Mayr

Gunter Mayr is Director General for Tax Policy and Tax Law at the Federal Ministry of Finance in Vienna since 2012 and teaches at the Institute of Financial Law of the University of Vienna. He is co-editor of standard works on Austrian tax law (in particular Doralt/Ruppe and Doralt/Kirchmayr/Mayr/Zorn), editor of the Austrian trade journal RdW and is represented in the advisory board on tax law at BB. His research focuses on Austrian and European corporate tax law.


Univ.-Prof. Dr. Alexander Rust

Alexander Rust is Professor of Tax Law at the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law of WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business). He was previously Acting Assistant Professor at New York University and Professor of European and International Tax Law at the Université du Luxembourg. Professor Rust’s research focuses on the law of double taxation agreements, the influence of European law on national tax law, comparative tax law and tax policy. Alexander Rust is a member of the International Fiscal Association, the European Association of Tax Law Professors, the Austrian Lawyers’ Day and the German Tax Law Society. He is also editor of the journals Intertax and “Internationale Steuer-Rundschau”.


Univ.-Prof. Dr. Alexander Schopper

Alexander Schopper has held a chair in corporate law since 2011 and became head of the Institute for Corporate and Tax Law at the University of Innsbruck in 2015. His current research projects focus on stock corporation law, equity compensation law, leasing and work contract law. From 2009 to 2011 he worked full-time as Of Counsel for the law firm Dorda Brugger Jordis Rechtsanwälte GmbH, where he gained practical experience in corporate law, banking and capital markets law, arbitration and M&A. He is a member of the board of directors of the law firm Dorda Brugger Jordis Rechtsanwälte GmbH. Alexander Schopper is author of leading Austrian commentaries on business law and co-editor, member of the editorial board and member of the advisory board of several law journals.


Univ.-Prof. Dr. Richard Sturn

Richard Sturn has been Professor at the Institute of Public Finance in Graz since 1997 and was Head of the Institute of Public Finance from the end of April 2006 until the end of September 2022. In 2015 he was appointed Joseph A. Schumpeter Professor for Innovation, Development and Growth and Head of the Graz Schumpeter Centre. His research fields are taxation, the economics of rights and norms, normative theory, and the history of ideas. Richard Sturn chairs the Economics and Ethics Committee of the German Economic Association and is managing editor of the European Journal of the History of Economic Thought and the “Jahrbuch für normative und institutionelle Grundlagen der Ökonomik”.

Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Ulrich Torggler

Ulrich Torggler has held the Chair of Corporate Law since 2011, with special emphasis on the interlinking with general civil law, and is a member of the Executive Board of the Institute for Corporate and Commercial Law at the University of Vienna. His research focuses on corporate law, corporate law and capital market law. Ulrich Torggler has been awarded the Walther Kastner Prize (1996, 2009) and the Cardinal Innitzer Promotion Prize (2009). Among other things, he is a member of the Executive Board of the Austrian Association of Corporate Law – GVÖ.


Univ.-Prof. Dr. Hannes Winner

Hannes Winner is Professor of Economics at the University of Salzburg, permanent scientific consultant at the Austrian Institute for Economic Research (WIFO) and Research Fellow at the Centre for Business Taxation at Oxford University. He studied economics in Innsbruck and spent several stays abroad, amongst others at the London School of Economics and the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence. His research interests include finance, health economics and applied econometrics. His research results have been published in renowned international journals such as Journal of Public Economics, Journal of International Economics or European Economic Review.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Johannes Zollner

Johannes Zollner has been a professor at the Institute of Corporate and International Business Law at the Karl Franzens University of Graz since 2013 and its director since 2015. From 2011 to 2013 he was university professor for private law at the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt, before that university assistant, last associate professor at the Institute for Civil and Corporate Law of the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. From 2007 to 2009 he was an APART scholarship holder of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. His work focuses on corporate law, capital market law, foundation law and corporate succession law.
